Seeking out professional help is not a sign of weakness -

it shows that you are taking responsibility for your health.

If you are unsure whether psychotherapy is right for you, an initial consultation can help you gain clarity.

Because your well-being deserves attention!

When should you consider psychotherapy?

Psychotherapy may be right for you if...

  • Crises seem overwhelming: separations, losses, professional challenges or other drastic events seem insurmountable
  • emotional burdens are taking a toll and you're feeling constantly anxious, depressed, irritable, or numb
  • compulsions, fears or stressful thoughts dominate your everyday life
  • events from the past are still negatively impacting your current life
  • physical symptoms are occuring without clear medical causes, e.g., disturbed sleep, exhaustion
  • your relationships are impacted: Conflicts, withdrawal or the feeling of not being understood put a strain on your partnership, family or friendships

How does psychotherapy work?

During our first session I'll take time to get a good first understanding of your issue. In addition, it's just as important that we get to know each other - mutual sympathy and trust are essential success factors for every psychotherapy.

FIRST SESSION

The first session is about understanding your needs, discussing questions you may have and getting to know each other, since mutual sympathy and trust are central elements of successful therapies.

Diagnostics & Therapy plan

In the following sessions, I'll conduct a thorough assessment of your medical history. Based on the results and your goals, I'll design your individual treatment plan.

Therapy

At the start, I'll provide you with information about your diagnosis and the treatment plan. The treatment plan will be based on cognitive behavioral psychotherapy, however, other methods may be incorporated based on need.

Logistics

  • A therapy session usually lasts 50 minutes and takes place once a week, or more often if necessary.
  • In case of mild symptoms, a few consultations or a short therapy (24 sessions) may be sufficient; for chronic or more complex problems, long-term treatment (60 to 80 sessions) is often necessary.
  • Therapy sessions usually take place in my practice rooms in Maxvorstadt, however, depending on the indication, they can also take place outside the practice (e.g. exposures in case of anxiety disorders and compulsions).
  • Therapy can also take place online. I'm using video platform that meets all data safety requirements.
  • Therapy can be conducted in German or English - whatever you feel more comfortable with

My philosophy as a therapist is to not only focus on symptoms, but on (re-) discovering and building on your existing resources and strengths and using them for therapy.

PSYCHOTHERAPY

At times, we find ourselves in situations that leave us feeling overwhelmed, stressed or disorientated. Sometimes talking to friends or our own coping strategies are not enough to regain balance. In situations like these, psychotherapy can be the right solution.
